Virtual events are becoming more common these days due to COVID-19 restrictions on physical gatherings. SPS media was engaged to cover the event and provide seamless live streaming services in Lagos Nigeria for the burial ceremony of Sir. Bernardino Doregos Ogunsina. Our experience at the 3-day burial ceremony was an eye-opener as we got an insight into the A to Z of a not so typical Lagos burial.

As a result of our live streaming service we were able to connect over 500 family members, loved ones and well wishers from all around the world, who could not attend the events in-person due to COVID-19 restrictions. They were all able to participate live in real time either via Zoom, Facebook, or YouTube.

The team was made up of 5 personals who played a unique role. The technical director, 3 camera operators, setup engineer and production assistant.

One of the things that made our work easy was planing. if you must have an event in Lagos or anywhere is Nigeria, it’s important to plan. This cant be over emphasized as things can get chaotic easily especially Lagos events. For us, we visited the locations days prior the event and had our strategy planing, layout and how we intent to execute the coverage. Power is a major factor. You have to decide where your power source is coming from and how reliable it is. Power was a major problem during this event streaming but luckily, we had a backup plan despite being told the there will be uninterrupted power for the event. We brought our UPS

The event was both sentimental and colorful. It was not just a celebration of the 80 year old icon’s life, but a premium “owambe,” experience as there was lots of music, dancing, singing, and lots of delectable meals to go around.
